The No-Pants Life

WHAT IS THE NO-PANTS LIFE?

In or around 2011, about 2-3 years after I ditched the painful Prada pumps and crushing commutes for a job that I could perform from anywhere on earth, one of my friends remarked to me:

“Alexis, you pretty much make about the same salary as you did before, except you work from home, with your cats on your lap, in your underpants.”

A catch-phrase was born.  Sure, my income has waxed and waned since then, but life is a series of tradeoffs.

For those of us interested in jettisoning the gilded handcuffs of the corporate life for a soul-affirming, freedom-maximizing existence (which can also be just as remunerative), this blog’s for you.

If you’re an employer who wants to know how to use a remote workspace to your advantage, this blog’s for you.

If you want to keep up to speed on trends in remote work, this blog’s for you.

If you want to take back hours of each day – which can add up to years of your life – that you’re spending on your commute, this blog’s for you.

Even if you aren’t a hardcore digital nomad – you’re a stay-at-home parent, military spouse, or someone who wants more TIME to work on passion projects – this blog’s for you.

Please drop a line or a comment or some feedback – I’d love to get to know you as I share my journeys and unsolicited insights!

Penn Station’s SUMMER OF HELL got you down? Try telecommuting.

For many commuters, today is the Monday of all Mondays, especially if their journey takes them in and out of Penn Station. On a good day, Penn Station is a crime against architecture. It’s a descent into the bowels of the underworld, with the feel of an overgrown subway station.  The low-hanging roof, stumpy columns, and … Continue reading Penn Station’s SUMMER OF HELL got you down?
